Marie Sherrill Johnson

Marie Sherrill Johnson, 84, of Stony Point, passed away on October 4, 2016 at her residence.
Marie was born on July 30, 1932, in Alexander County, daughter of the late Roy Lee and Ila Estelle Moose Sherrill. She attended Elk Shoal Presbyterian Church.
Marie enjoyed cooking and was known for her “homemade” biscuits. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Johnson Sr.; a daughter, Lori Johnson; brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Roy, Tom and Renn Sherrill; and sisters, Nell Sherrill, Grace Johnson, Margaret Pope, Winfred Sherrill, and Christine Honeycutt.
Marie leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Steve Johnson and wife Lisa, and John Johnson; daughters, Beth Harrison and husband Charlie, and Sandy Smith and husband Frank; grandchildren, Matt Johnson, Kerri Harrison, Chrystal Johnson, and Trae Johnson; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter and Jade Johnson, Luke Gryder, Athena and Averie Johnson, and Lily Ann Gryder; a sister, Dorothy Martin; and a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Alexander Funeral Service, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The funeral will follow, at 3:30 pm, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in the Marvin United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family requests, in addition to flowers, that memorials be made to Hospice of Alexander County, 50 Lucy Echerd Ln, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
