Constance “Connie” Elder Nance

Constance “Connie” Elder Nance, 72, of Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Nance was born September 17, 1944, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Jay Edward Elder and Margaret Burke Elder.

She was a graduate of Taylorsville High School and later became employed with the Alexander County School System. She was a bus driver and a kindergarten assistant at Wittenburg Elementary School for 27 years. She had many wonderful memories of the children and her friends she worked with.

After retirement from school, she worked part-time at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams in the daycare, and also at Brushy Mountain Golf Course. Connie was of the Christian faith and enjoyed being around friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Nance; a sister, Muriel Elder Monteith; and a former husband, David Triplett.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Marsha Nance Jackson and husband Andrew, and Gina Nance Peterson and husband Kurt, all of the Bethlehem Community; four grandchildren, Daylin and Heather Jackson, and Robbie and Alaina Peterson; a sister, Betty Stevenson of the Vashti Community; a brother, Roger Elder of Stony Point; an aunt, Elizabeth “Sid” Burke Hammer of Taylorsville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and two very special lifelong friends, Leon and Brenda Bowman.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Chris Meade will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service.
