A Taylorsville resident is facing charges in connection with child pornography.

On Monday, March 27, 2017, agents from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force asked for assistance from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office to respond to a residence located on Boston Road in Taylorsville, according to Sheriff Chris Bowman.

Officers responded with the Task Force to execute a search warrant at the residence of Johnny Paz Perez in reference to an ongoing undercover operation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Home Land Security. The search warrant was executed for electronic devices.

The investigation led to the arrest of Johnny Paz Perez, age 34 of Taylorsville. Mr. Perez did distribute to an undercover agent material containing a visual representation of a minor, 8-14 years of age, engaged in sexual activity.

Mr. Perez was transported to the Alexander County Law Enforcement Center, where he was charged with Felony 2nd Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. He was given a $100,000 secured bond with a first appearance date of April 3, 2017 in Alexander County District Court.

Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) is investigating Mr. Perez in reference to his citizenship status, said Sheriff Bowman.
