Donald Jason Sisk

Donald Jason Sisk, 37, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 30, 2016.
He is the loved husband of Buffy Elliott Sisk and doting father of 18-month old Analeigh Michelle Sisk. Jason joins his late grandparents, Ged and Gaynell Roberson, and Watson and Margaret Sisk; and his brother, Adam, in heaven.
Born August 20, 1979, Jason was the first-born twin son of Don and Brenda Sisk.
He is survived by his twin sister, Adrianne and husband Chuck Wrinkle, and many other close family members and friends.
“JayBird,” as he was affectionately known, will live on in our hearts and memories forever. His deep love for family and friends was fierce and he was famous for his huge bear hugs, his contagious laugh, and quirky sense of humor. He loved camping, fishing, hiking, and most of all, sitting around a campfire with music blaring—anything to do in the outdoors.
Jason’s affection for his daughter was unquestionable. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be directed to Analeigh’s Scholarship Fund at the NC State Employees Credit Union, 2875 16th Street NE, Hickory, NC 28601. Denote Analeigh Michelle Sisk #85 on the check, or give to the charity of one’s choice.
A celebration service was held on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at St Luke’s Methodist Church, in Hickory.
The following poem written by Jason’s Aunt Ellen reminds us of the choices we make every day in our lives. We choose to be grateful and have been extremely blessed to have had “JayBird” in our lives.

Just For Today

Just for today, we choose to rejoice,
And lift up our hands, our hearts, our voice;
In spite of our blemishes, warts and spots;
In spite of overwhelming “may or may nots.”

Just for today, we choose to believe,
That our God is big enough to meet all our needs;
Whether for us, our family, health or our friends;
For our church, our country, for this world steeped in sin.

For all we have is right now…..today,
So on the knees of our hearts, we choose to pray.
And give thanks to the One Who made us whole,
Who glues back the pieces of our broken souls.

We choose to make this, a day of thanksgiving;
A life filled with praise—a life of thanks-living.
And be grateful to the LORD Who gives life from above,
Who chose to bless us with these gifts and His love.
