Clary violates pre-trial release conditions, is jailed
On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at approx. 9:38 a.m., members of the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Alexander County Director of Pre-Trial Release in going to the residence of murder suspect Jason Clary, located on Mt. Wesley Church Road in Alexander County. Officers went to the Clary residence to do a random drug test.
The test was given and the results showed that a controlled substance (Suboxone) was detected in Clary’s system. Clary was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where he was brought in front of Magistrate Watts. No bond was given.
Clary is charged with felony first degree murder in the shooting death of Travis Harold on April 11, 2016, at Clary’s home on Mt. Wesley Church Road in Hiddenite. Clary was indicted by the Alexander County Grand Jury on Monday, May 2. He is also charged with felony possession of firearm by a felon.
Earlier, a bond hearing was held on July 6, 2016, in Alexander Superior Court in front of Judge Mark Klass. Parts of Clary’s conditions were that Clary could not test positive for any controlled substance. Any violations of that condition would result in immediate revocation of the bond, which was set at $500,000 secured, and the defendant was to be arrested without warrant.
Clary is scheduled for a first appearance in Alexander County Superior Court on Monday, August 15, at 10:00 a.m.
