Linda Marie Stokes Little Dobbins

Linda Marie Stokes Little Dobbins, of Taylorsville, gained her wings on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at her residence. The Lord shared her with the world 86 years, 9 months, and 18 days.
She was born December 10, 1929, in Alexander County, daughter of the late Rev. Dock A. Stokes and Byrd Crawford Stokes. She was the wife of the late Calvin Little and the late Walter Dobbins.
Along with her parents, she will be met in Heaven by three sisters, Mildred Watts, Magdelene Jones, and Eva Stokes; two brothers, William “Bill” Stokes and Rowland “Row” Stokes; two sons, Dockie and Gale Little; and a great-grandson, James Thomas Kelly.
Marie leaves to cherish her love a daughter, Althea Little; two grandchildren, Rolanda (Lonnie) Parsons, and James (Tiko) Parsons Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Brittanee Parsons, Calvin Parsons, JaNisha Jones, and James (Tre) Parsons III; a great-great-grandson, Jeremyah Landen Jones; a sister, Rachel Millsaps; a sister-in-law, Wilma Stokes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Marie was a true and faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a member of the senior choir, missionary and Sunday School member, an usher, and a Mother of the Church. In her lifetime, she worked at Schneider Mills, and Alexander Central High School, from which she retired after 21 years.
Not wanting to sit idle after her retirement, she went on to be the “grandmother” of a daycare center and a biscuit maker at Hardees’. Loving the outside, you would always see her working in her flowers and her garden. She also enjoyed baking, sewing, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
The funeral service was held Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Macedonia Baptist Church. Pastor William Brown, Sr. officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
