Billy Lynn Sprinkle

Billy Lynn Sprinkle, 57, of Hiddenite, passed away, Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Iredell Memorial Hospital, Statesville.

Billy was born September 4, 1959, in Alexander County, son of the late James Haskell Sprinkle and Katherine Sloan Sprinkle who survives.

Billy was a self- employed poultry farmer and was very active in his community and Alexander County. He served as chairman of the Alexander County Democratic Party for a number of years, was a member of the Gwaltney Ruritan Club, was a referee for the N.C. Volleyball Association, and was manager of the East Alexander County Pool Association. Billy was President of the Alexander County Crime Stoppers and a faithful member of South River United Methodist Church, and he served as Chairman of the Administrative Council at South River UMC. Billy was a graduate of N.C. State, with a degree in poultry science.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts.

Billy is survived by his wife, Diane Dessecker Sprinkle of the home; and his daughter, Jessica Lynn Sprinkle also of the home. He is also survived by a brother, James Allen (Jim) Sprinkle and wife Shannon of Newton; a sister, Sandra Sprinkle Jordan and husband Kent of Statesville; a sister-in-law, Shelly and husband Michael Brown of Taylorsville; a brother-in-law, Doug Dessecker and wife Jenny of Taylorsville; and his father-in-law, Darryl Dessecker and wife Linda of Hiddenite. Nephews, Bryant Sprinkle of Newton, Patrick Sprinkle of Atlanta, Georgia, Joshua and Aaron Jordan of Statesville, and Dylan, Daniel and Drake Dessecker, all of Taylorsville; and nieces, Sarah Jordan of Statesville, and Michala Brown and Marissa Brown of Taylorsville also survive him. A special great-niece, Salem Johnson of Statesville also survives.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Fairview Baptist Church, 41 Center Church Road, Hiddenite. Rev. Durant Barr, Rev. Lynn Hawkins, and Rev. Doug Hochmuth will officiate. Burial will follow in the South River UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Chapman Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will be gathered at other times at Billy’s mother’s residence on Cheatham Ford Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Fairview Baptist Church, South River UMC, or Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center.
