Betty Baity Reese

Betty Baity Reese, 77, of Taylorsville, went to her eternal home on October 10, 2016.

Betty was born on May 6, 1939, in Alexander County, daughter of the late Rev. Homer A. and Mattie Reavis Baity.

Betty taught Sunday School for 33 years in the nursery and children classes, children’s choir, and vacation bible school for 35 years. She was a lifelong member of Linney’s Grove Baptist Church.

She was the owner and operator of Betty Reese’s Home Daycare for 40 years. Betty was also a Cub & Girl Scout Leader.

She enjoyed gardening, picking up eggs, working in the yard, taking care of children, and volunteering at Ellendale School.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Stanley F. Reese; two brothers, David Atwell Baity and James Larry Baity; and a sister, Catherine Owens Hamby.

Betty leaves to carry on her legacy a daughter, Angela Reese Bowman and husband Greg; a son, Douglas Stanley Reese; two adopted sons, Chris Owens and wife Jennifer, and Tim Moose and wife Sherrie; four brothers, Billy J. and wife Betty, Jerry and wife Dorothy, Jimmy and wife B.J., and Donald and wife Clara; two granddaughters, Reese and Reilley Bowman; two grandsons, Trevor and Tyler Reese; two adopted granddaughters, Leah Pennell Robinson and Taylor Owens; an adopted grandson, Matthew Moose, and daughter, Riley Moose; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Alexander Funeral Service, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. at Linney’s Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Cliff Gwaltney and Rev. Roger Wall will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Linney’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family requests, in addition to flowers, that memorials be made to Hospice of Alexander County, 50 Lucy Echerd Ln, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.
