Kathleen Ingram McAteer, 88, of Newton, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Catawba Valley Medical Center, in Hickory.
She was born October 15, 1928, in Alexander County, daughter of the late Numa Forrester and Edna Earl Ingram. Kathleen was a graduate of Taylorsville High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Clayton McAteer.
She is survived by two sons,: Ernie McAteer and wife Kathy of Lenoir, and Charles McAteer and wife Linda of Hickory; three daughters, Susan Bartram and husband Chet of Newton, Gina Sharpe and husband Dale of Atlanta, Georgia, and Laura Beard and husband Kenny of Newton; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., at Burke Mortuary Chapel, in Newton, with Pastor Jerome Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 2:00-2:45 p.m., at Burke Mortuary, in Newton, prior to the service.
