Mary “Ruth” Hefner

Mary “Ruth” Hefner, 88, of Taylorsville, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at Springs of Catawba.

Miss Hefner was born June 15, 1928, in Alexander County, daughter of the late Johnny Pleas Hefner and Amanda Bowman Hefner.

She had worked in the hosiery business before retiring, and was a member of Friendship Lutheran Church. Ruth was an avid collector of antiques, especially glassware.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde William Hefner and Garfield Hefner; four sisters, Mae H. Reese, Leona H. Hefner, Rachel H. Miller, and Sarah H. Bowman.

Those left to cherish her memory include three brothers, J.E. “Jake” Hefner and wife Ellen, Larry Hefner, and Ronald Hefner and wife Brenda, all of Taylorsville; and a sister, Willie H. Isenhour of Hickory.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Friendship Lutheran Church. Pastor Greg Yeager will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
