Hayden Alvin Rector

Hayden Alvin Rector, 77, of Millersville Road, Taylorsville, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Gordon Hospice House.

Mr. Rector was born December 7, 1938, in Alexander County, son of the late Harold Franklin Rector and Annie Mae Sherrill Rector.

He was a US Navy veteran. He had worked as an upholstery supervisor, retiring from Stanford Furniture. He was a member of Millersville Baptist Church.

Hayden enjoyed working on tractors, hit & miss motors, and trading. When he was a younger man, he really enjoyed riding motorcycles. Hayden was a devoted husband and father.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darren Alvin Rector; and a niece, Sonya Rector.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Clydie Goforth Rector of the home; a daughter, Sharon Rector Anderson and husband Robby of Taylorsville; a son, Rodney Franklin Rector and wife Cathy Sharpe Rector of Taylorsville; two grandsons, Levi Rector and Baydin Anderson, both of Taylorsville; a sister, Doris Watts of Taylorsville; a brother, Larry Rector and wife Linda of Taylorsville; a niece, Anne Grassler and husband Paul; a nephew, Frankie Watts and wife Karla; a great-niece, Sarah Munsey; and two special cousins, Ricky and Micheal Rector.

The funeral service will be at 4 p.m., Monday, October 24, 2016 at Millersville Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Orren and Rev. Larry Blakely will officiate. Burial will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by DAV Chapter 84 of Taylorsville. The family will receive friends from 2:30-4 p.m. prior to the service.
