Barbara Ellen Bragg Leaper

Barbara Ellen Bragg Leaper, 73, of Taylorsville, passed away October 23, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Barbara was born on March 29, 1943, in Logan County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Raymond and Glena Kitchen Gearhart. She was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church. Barbara loved her children and grandchildren. She was known for her willingness to help others.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Dana Ray Bragg; two brothers, Thomas and Jesse Gearhart; and two grandchildren, Dustin and Tosha Sweet.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Leah Mathis of Hiddenite, Kathy Gryder and husband Robert of Stony Point, and Betty Reynolds of Moravian Falls; a son, Dana Ray Bragg Jr. and wife Christy of Vale; a sister, Edna Franklin and husband Danny of Logan, West Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and close friend, Saundra Murphy of Pigeon Creek, West Virigina; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 26, 2016, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., at Rocky Face Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Jesse Bragg and Rev. Mark Dula will be officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
