William Ray Rogers

William Ray Rogers, 79, of Old Wilkesboro Road, Taylorsville, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Rogers was born November 14, 1936, in Alexander County, son of the late William Rayford Rogers and Flora Lee Watts Rogers.

He had worked as an insurance auditor for Aetna Life and Casualty, and after retirement went on to be an independent auditor.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, in Taylorsville, where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

William was a Mason with East Gate 0692 in Charlotte. He was a graduate of Taylorsville High School and of High Point University. He enjoyed people, and loved sports, particularly football and basketball.  He had a great sense of humor and an adventurous spirit. He loved trivia about everything and was a history buff.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen D. Rogers; and son, William Richard Rogers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Wendy Lee Kiker and husband Kevin R. of Midland; Wendy’s mother, Linda Bebber Rogers Cesena of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Linda Joy Kiker and Jacob Lee Kiker, both of Midland; and his step-daughter, Robbi Walls and husband Scott of Charlotte.

The funeral service will be at 4 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at First Baptist Church, in Taylorsville.  Rev. Dan Redding will officiate. Burial will follow in the Three Forks Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
