Donald Eugene Hendren, 90, of Moravian Falls, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 31, 2016, at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehab, in Wilkesboro, following a period of declining health after an accident in 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016, at Bethany Baptist Church, in the Brushy Mountain Community, with Rev. Roger Elmore and Rev. Vincent Adams officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard will be held in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hendren was born May 24, 1926, in Wilkes County, son of Clarence Jehu and Zella Tevepaugh Hendren. He was the owner/operator of DH Orchards and a lifelong member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he served as Church Treasurer, taught Sunday School for many years, and was a member of the Gideons. Mr. Hendren was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jim Hendren, Max Hendren, and John Hendren; sisters, Gladys Campbell, Janie Reid, and Martha Billings Childers; brothers-in-law, Belt Campbell, Tony Powers, Tommy Moore, and James Billings; and sisters-in-law, Diane Hendren and Martha Jenkins Hendren.

Mr. Hendren is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rhoda Ann Welborn Hendren of the home; three daughters, Donna Hendren and husband Terry, Debbie Pruitt and husband Stephen, and Becky Macemore and husband Johnny, all of Moravian Falls; six grandchildren, Adam Pruitt of Moravian Falls, Aaron Pruitt of Suquamish, Washington, Cameron Hendren of Moravian Falls, Jenna Cox and husband Luke of North Wilkesboro, Corban Macemore of North Wilkesboro, and Cayden Macemore of Moravian Falls; three great-grandchildren, Brook and Beth Settle, and Makenzie Cox; seven brothers and sisters, Libby Oliver and husband Mack of Stony Point, Betty Rufty and husband Bill of Salisbury, Lowell Hendren and wife Sue of Moravian Falls, Joann Powers of Oak Ridge, Sally Moore of Moravian Falls, William Hendren of Greensboro, and Roger Hendren of Moravian Falls; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hendren of Morganton, Elrea Hendren of Moravian Falls, and Thelma Hendren of Trinity; and brothers-in-law, Clay Reid and wife Nancy of Tobaccoville, and John Childers of Hickory.
