Mack Arthur McKinney, of North Wilkesboro, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Gordon Hospice House, in Statesville, surrounded by his family, after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born October 2, 1943 to the late Robert and Hattie McKinney. He was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church, and had pastored Victory Baptist Church and Friendly Baptist Church, in Taylorsville, Faith Baptist Church, in Hickory, and Hudson Chapel Baptist Church, in Catawba.

He was presently employed  at Ebenezer Children’s Home as a house parent. Everyone loved “Mr. Mack.” He enjoyed working outdoors, and making everything beautiful!

Mack spent most of his time with his best friend and love of his life, Estelle. He loved his children, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy!

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Estelle of the home; a son, Michael McKinney and wife Rebecca of Taylorsville; daughters, Susie McKinney and friend Michael Duncan of Winston-Salem, Brianna McKinney of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Pam McKinney of Wilson; grandchildren, Brandon and Bradley Simmons of Taylorsville, Anna Carrigan of Granite Falls, Rachel, Andrew and Matthew McKinney of Taylorsville, and Joshua and Isaiah Puga Luna of Wilson;  three brothers; a sister; and his special lifetime friends, Fred and Fran Steelman of Glendale Springs.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Peace Haven Baptist Church, North Wilkesboro, from 5:00 p.m.. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2016, at Peace Haven Baptist Church, with Rev. Fred Steelman and Rev. Ronnie Gregory officiating. Burial will follow, at 2:00 p.m., in Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery, Conover.

Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made c/o Estelle McKinney, 1006 Byrd Ridge Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28656.
