Emma “Leona” Mecimore
Emma “Leona” Mecimore, 93, of US Hwy 64-90 West, Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Mecimore was born March 21, 1923, in Alexander County, daughter of the late John Shook and Cora Shook Shook.
She had worked in the furniture industry and at the Burger Basket, before retiring at the age of 85. She was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, which she dearly loved, and was a former member and Sunday school teacher at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Leona loved to travel and shop for clothes and shoes. She also loved to go to Captain’s Galley for fish.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lewis Mecimore; her second husband, Roland Morrison; five sisters, Lillie, Bessie, and Elizabeth and infant twin sisters; and seven brothers, Glen, Homer, Francis, William, Hayden and Frank Shook and an infant brother.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Harold Mecimore and wife Carol of Taylorsville; a grandson, Kenny Mecimore and fiancée Kathy; a granddaughter, Kimberly Mecimore Pressley and husband Robbie; two great-grandsons, Scott Mecimore and Brandon Pressley and wife Jenny; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2016 at Mt. Herman Baptist Church. Rev. Paul Schronce will officiate. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Adams Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include: her nephews, Kenneth Mecimore, William Hammer, Jimmy Shook, Jones Barnes, JD Barnes, and her two great-grandsons, Scott Mecimore and Brandon Pressley.
