Beulah Mae Johnson

 

Beulah Mae Johnson, 92, of Hiddenite, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Maple Leaf Nursing Center, in Statesville.

Mae was born May 1, 1924 to the late Foy Johnson and Fallie Mae Goodin Johnson.

In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Kerley; and a brother, Dwight Johnson.

Mae is survived by a brother, Grady (Nancy) Johnson of Hiddenite; a sister, Dorothy Childers of Charlotte; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mae spent her early years working on the family farm, but in 1963 she began caring for children in her home. Over the next 40 plus years she helped raise over 100 children.

Mae also taught herself how to bake and decorate birthday and wedding cakes for friends and family.
Mae was a member of Damascus Baptist Church, in Statesville.

Funeral will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., at Damascus Baptist Church, with Reverend Dale Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends at Damascus Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. until the service.
