Hazel C. Varner

Hazel C. Varner, 76, of Frazier Street, Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital, in Forsyth.

Mrs. Varner was born April 10, 1940, in Iredell County, daughter of the late Romas Franklin Campbell and Dovie Rebecca Tayes Campbell.

She had worked in the furniture industry and was a member of Wilkesboro Church of God.

She loved being a song writer and singing. Hazel really enjoyed going to WHKY TV station, where her and her husband have a gospel program.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant children, Karen Sue Varner and Gary Wayne Varner; a sister, Effie Benfield; and three brothers, Gilbert Franklin Campbell, Boyd Garfield Campbell, Sr., and Rev. Henry Clay Campbell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Rev. Jerry Varner of the home; and four sisters, Lucille Gatton of Mocksville, Mildred Tayes of Lexington, Betty Joe McDaniels of Statesville, and Kathelene Patterson of Statesville.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2016 at Taylorsville Church of God. Rev. Ken Nelson, Rev. Murphy Brewer, and Bishop Ken Bell will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Life Community Baptist Church Cemetery, in Statesville. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Adams Funeral Home, in Taylorsville.

    We will sure miss you on the broadcast. Even though I never meet you. I truly loved watching you on Saturdays. I loved you singing the wheelchair song. You were such a blessing just through tv with your good spirits and singino. I know Heaven got a beautiful angel. U will be truly missed. Praying for the whole family.
