Lillian Lucille Sloop Cook

Lillian Lucille Sloop Cook, 96, of Hwy 90 East, Taylorsville, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Valley Nursing Center.

Mrs. Cook was born June 22, 1920, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Thomas Eric Sloop and Mamie Jane Adams.

She had worked as a seamstress in the furniture industry, before retiring. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, where she was a very active member. Lillian was a former member of Home Demonstration Club. She loved to sew and also her vegetable and flower garden.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sylvester Lynn Cook; and a sister, Wilma Sloop Cook.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Carolyn Jean Stikeleather of Winebow, and Joyce Cook Sweet and husband Johnny of Hiddenite; two sons, Robert Cook of Taylorsville, and Thomas L. Cook and wife Patricia Ann of Hiddenite; a sister, Thelma Echerd of Taylorsville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Parks, Rev. Charles Cook, Rev. Henry Cook, Rev. Mitch King, and Rev. Blair Briddle will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers include: Tommy Smith, Marty Loudermilt, Nathan Davis, Brian Walker, Jeff Peal, Billy McCalland, and Roy Lynn Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice of Alexander County, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681; or Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, Hiddenite, NC 28636.
