Royde Lonas Kerley

Royde Lonas Kerley, 80, of Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Frye Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.

He was born June 11, 1936, in Alexander County, son of the late Theodore Roosevelt “Ode” Kerley and Annie Lee Blackwelder Kerley. He was a retired furniture worker. He was also a member of Mt Hebron Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Waitsel Lee Kerley and Harold Kerley; and an infant sister, Marie Kerley.

Survivors include three brothers, Dan Kerley and wife Dorothy, Toice Kerley and wife Betty, and Wayne Kerley, all of Taylorsville; a sister, Phyllis Kerley Mays of Taylorsville; numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Yount and Rev. Grady Blakely will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday evening, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, 17 Mt. Hebron Church Ct, Taylorsville.

Honorary pallbearers include Deacons of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and friends.
