Rava Nell Fox Wike

Rava Nell Fox Wike, 77, of Taylorsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Gordon Hospice House, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mrs. Wike was born April 11, 1939, in Alexander County, daughter of the late Harvey A. Fox and Thursey Oliver Fox.

In addition to her parents, she will be reunited in Heaven with her sister, Mae Dagenhart; her brothers, Roy L. Fox and James R. Fox; a son-in-law, Ronald Russell; and an uncle, David B. Fox.

Rava Nell went to Ellendale Elementary School and attended Taylorsville High School. Before her retirement, she worked at Carolina Glove, Lewittes Furniture, Southern Devices, and Trio Foods. She was a member of White Plains Baptist Church and will be remembered for her faith in God and her love for her family and friends.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed taking care of her family with delicious homemade meals, special treats, and lots of prayer. She loved to make homemade bread and biscuits and could often be found canning and preserving the different vegetables growing in her garden during the summer months. A wonderful cook, she was famous among family and friends for her persimmon pudding and fruit cakes.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 60 years, James Monroe Wike; daughters, Deborah (Debbie) Russell and Donna Wike, both of Taylorsville; a granddaughter, April Dawn Russell, and grandson, Daniel Ryan Russell, both of Taylorsville; honorary grandson, Mark Russell and wife Meshia of Taylorsville; step-grandson, Roger Russell and wife Shannon of Taylorsville; and a step-great-granddaughter, Serena Russell of Taylorsville. She is also survived by her brother, George E. Fox and wife Peggy of Newton; her sisters, Phyllis Mills and husband Richard of Charlotte, and Louise Hathcock and husband Glenn of Hickory; sisters-in-law, Helen Fox and Mary Sue Payne, both of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2017 at White Plains Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Daniels will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gordon Hospice House for their compassionate and exceptional care of Mrs. Wike during the last few weeks of her battle with cancer.
