Homer “Dale” Hoffman, Jr.

Homer “Dale” Hoffman, Jr., 73, of Taylorsville, died on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Valley Nursing Center, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Hoffman was born December 2, 1943, in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of the late Homer Dale Hoffman, Sr. and Genevieve O’Neil Hoffman.

He was a US Air Force veteran, who had served for four years and nine months as an aircraft mechanic.

He had graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1961 and later, on September 21, 1964, married Bernadine A. Mick. He graduated from Youngstown Institute of Technology with a certificate in computer programming.

After which, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1972, they moved to Sheffield Lake, Ohio, where they lived for 34 years. During which time he graduated from West Side Institute of Technology, where he attained a third class stationary engineer license for the State of Ohio.

He also belonged to the ELKS Lodge # 1301 in Lorain, Ohio. Dale was also a life member of Amvets Post #55 in Sheffield Lake, Ohio. He was also a life member of the V.F.W. Post 8686, where he served as Post Quartermaster for 14 years.

Dale was also a member of the Foothills Corvette Club and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He was also a member of Harding Chapter Order of DeMolay, where he was a past Master Counselor.

After retiring they moved to Taylorsville in 2007. His hobbies included fishing, motorcycles, traveling, camping, and he was an avid Browns and Indians fan as well as NASCAR racing.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David A. Hoffman, Sr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Bernadine A. Mick Hoffman of the home; a daughter, Debra A. Hoffman Solomon and husband Thomas M. Solomon; and a granddaughter, Samantha K. Solomon, all of Beacon Falls, Connecticut.

A gathering of friends will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Adams Funeral Home.
