ACPR accepting sign-ups for spring sports all this month
The Alexander County Parks and Recreation is currently holding sign-ups for spring sports. This spring, the ACPR will offer t-ball, instructional softball and baseball, fastpitch softball, baseball, and soccer. The leagues include: 3-4 and 5-6 t-ball; baseball for ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15; softball for ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-16; and soccer for ages 7-8, 9-10, and 11-13. All soccer will be co-ed teams. The birthday cutoff is May 1 for t-ball, baseball, and soccer and Jan. 1 for softball.
The ACPR will be accepting sign-ups during the month of February at its office in the old Wittenburg School Building on Highway 16 South. Office hours at 8 am until 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The office will be open Thursday, February 23 through Friday, February 24, and Monday, February 27 though Tuesday, February 28 from the hours of 8 am to 6 pm. It will also be open Saturday Feb 25, from 9 am to 1 pm. Tuesday, February 28, will be the last day of regular signups. After February 28, it will be considered a late sign up and will be an additional $20 late fee on top of the registration fee. Anyone who signs up late is NOT guaranteed to be placed on a team. The sign-up fees are as follows: one child – $40; two children in same family – $75; three children in same family $100; and four children in same family – $125. After February 28, any sign-up will be considered late and a $20 fee will be charged. Anyone signing up late is NOT guaranteed to be placed on a team.
There must be a signed Waiver of Liability from a parent/legal guardian in order for a child to participate in any Recreation Sport.
