Jo Yvonne “Jody” Sturgill

Jo Yvonne “Jody” Sturgill, 72, of Taylorsville, formerly of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away at Valley Nursing Center, in Taylorsville, on Thursday, February 23, 2017.

Born on February 10, 1945, daughter of the late Russell and Laura Agnes Carter Sturgill in Kingsport, Tennessee, she was a graduate of Lynn View High School, class of 1963. She attended Whitney School of Business and was retired, as a legal secretary, from Moore, Stout and Waddell Lawyers and Associates in Kingsport, Tennessee, after almost 50 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Brenda.

She is suvivied by a sister, Linda Sturgill Jennings and husband Gary; two nieces, Melissa Dawn Bowman and husband Scott, and Heather Lee Miller and husband Jamie, all of Taylorsville; and great-nieces and nephews, Katie, Mollie and Jake Bowman and wife Kendra, and Rhett and Russell Miller.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., at Alexander Funeral Service, in Taylorsville, with funeral services following in the funeral home chapel. Graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 12:00 p.m., in the Holston View Cemetery, in Weber City, Virginia, with the Dr. William J. Carter officiating.
