James Grayson Friday

James Grayson Friday, 83, of Taylorsville, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

Born on February 4, 1934, in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Edgar Ray and Kathryn Mae Mull Friday. He was retired from the NC Department of Corrections, and retired serving our country honorably in the United Stated Marines and Air Force. James was a 32° Mason and member of the Brushy Mountain Oasis Shrine Club. He was also a faithful member at Three Forks Baptist Church and loved to fish, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margorie Ann Moose Friday; and a brother, Bing Friday.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Lloyd Friday and wife Pam, and Frankie Friday and wife Maria; grandchildren, Nichole Barnes, Whitney Simmons, and Matthew Friday, all of Taylorsville, and Hannah Herman of Lenoir; six great-grandchildren with the expectation of twins in August; a brother, Wilson Friday and wife Gayle; an uncle, Glenn Mull, all of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., at Three Forks Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Carson Moseley will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Military rites will be provided by DAV Chapter 84 of Taylorsville and Chapter 6 of Hudson, with Masonic Rites following by the Lee Masonic Lodge #253 A.F. & A.M. of Taylorsville.

Pallbearers will be: Matthew Friday, Jason Herman, Brandon Barnes, Burke Friday, Ron Younts, Avery Robinette, Justin Robinette, and Kevin Simmons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Shriner’s Children Hospital @ 604 Doug Mayes Pl, Charlotte, NC 28262.
