Lillian “Gail” Hamm Lackey
Lillian “Gail” Hamm Lackey, 79, of Statesville, passed away March 12, 2017, at her son’s home in Gadsden, Alabama, after a brief illness.
She was born July 15, 1937, in Iredell County, daughter of the late Rome Lee Hamm and Etta Mae Head Hamm. She had worked in textiles and the motel industry, but primarily was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Buford Lackey, Sr., and seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons, David Buford Lackey, Jr. and wife Renee of Gadsden, Alabama, and Steven Lee Lackey of Stony Point; four grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby H. Leonard of Hiddenite, and Margie H. Childers of Patterson; and a brother, Ronnie Hamm of Statesville.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel, 158 Stony Point School Road, Stony Point. Rev. Houston C. “Billy” Blancett will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Statesville. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m., prior to the funeral.
