Alex Men’s Tennis downs Hickory & West Iredell in home contests

Carter Patterson is off to a 6-2 singles start this season

The Alexander Central Men’s Tennis Team grabbed a pair of victories and climbed to 5-3 on the season in contests played at the Liledoun Road tennis courts on March 20 and March 21.
The Cougars hosted perennial 3A power and future conference mate Hickory High School on Monday, March 20, and came away with an impressive 6-3 win over the Tornadoes.
Sophomore Carter Patterson rallied from one set down to win a third-set tie breaker on court one to lead ACHS to a 5-1 effort in singles play. Along with Patterson, Noah Presnell, Chandler Davis, Brennon McDonald, and Cameron White claimed singles win over Hickory.
In doubles play, the team of Presnell and Matt Graham teamed up for an ACHS victory.
Exhibition winners included the doubles teams of Conner Whisnant/Caleb Bolick and Drew Evans/Joshua Benfield. Luke Huffman recorded a win in exhibition singles.
The following day, Alexander cruised to a 9-0 North Piedmont win over West Iredell in Taylorsville. Patterson, Jackson Barr, Presnell, Davis, McDonald, and White all won in straight sets fashion in singles play. On the day, ACHS posted a 72-8 game difference in the win.
In doubles, the ACHS teams of Andy Lackey/Matt Graham, Joshua Benfield/Jacob Roseman, and Caleb Bolick/Conner Whisnant posted wins to complete the 9-0 win.
Cory Earp, Seth Fox, Luke Huffman, Josh Dietrich, and Drew Evans won exhibition matches for the Cougars.
