Vern Monroe Ester

Vern Monroe Ester, 95, formerly of Saunders Lane, Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Conover.

Mr. Ester was born September 19, 1921, in Wilkes County, the son of the late Jesse Lee Ester and Effie Porter Ester.

He was a US Army veteran, who had served in WWII, and was a member of Taylorsville Wesleyan Church, where he was a charter member.

He retired from Schneider Mills, in Taylorsville. He loved long road trips and going to flea markets.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Lee Pardue Ester; an infant granddaughter, Jamie Michelle Ester; his brothers, Elmer, Hubert, JC and Lloyd Ester; and a sister, Pearl Burchette.

Those left to cherish his memory include three sons, Vincent Ester and wife Peggy of Taylorsville, Dennis Ester and wife Karen of Catawba, and Randy Ester and wife Brandy of Nashville, Tennessee; five daughters, Emma Jean Griffin and husband Joe of Winston-Salem, Sue Heavner and Mike of Hickory, Judy Bell and husband Butch of Statesville, Edna Tedder of Hiddenite, and Jeanette Russell and husband Terry of Taylorsville; a sister, Thelma Alexander of Roaring River; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Aaron Taylor and Rev. Eddie Jolly will officiate. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville Wesleyan Church Cemetery with full military honors accorded by DAV Chapter 84 of Taylorsville. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., prior to the service.

Pallbearers include: Steven Ester, Matthew Ester, CJ Ester, Khanh Nguyen, Richard Wright, and Josh Russell.
