Sharon Brown Hanesworth

Sharon Brown Hanesworth, 62, of Taylorsville, passed away in her home on Sunday, March 26, 2017 while surrounded by family. A beloved wife, mother, and sister, Sharon’s death followed a courageous 8 month battle with ALS.

Mrs. Hanesworth was born on November 29, 1954, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Odell Brown and Ruby Webster Brown. She was of the Baptist faith.

Following a 38 year career in the folding carton industry, Sharon recently retired from RockTenn / WestRock. Sharon’s talents included cooking, gardening, and being a kind, compassionate person to all who crossed her path.

Those left to cherish her incredible memory include her husband, Gary Hanesworth of the home; a daughter, Stacey Matheson of Cornelius; step-daughters, Connie Sidden and husband Mark of Kernersville, and Terri Chapman and husband Ken of Advance; three sisters, Brenda Lowman and husband Jim of Hickory, Sandy Jolly and husband Elvin of Taylorsville, and Pat Icenhour of Taylorsville; a brother, Kevin Brown and wife Patty of Taylorsville; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at a later date and burial will follow in Harrington Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to Catawba Regional Hospice for all the care and support given to Sharon and her family during the past three months.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice at 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
