Thomas “Ed” Edward Bare

Thomas “Ed” Edward Bare, 78, of Taylorsville, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice.

He was born on March 25, 1939, in Ashe County, the son of the late Thomas Preston and Delta Blevins Bare. Before retirement, he worked for Piedmont Wood Product.

He loved woodworking, fishing, and hunting. Thomas was a member at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will truly be missed, but forever in our hearts.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David B. Bare; and sisters, Francis Bare and Ruby Hoosier.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Vivian Loueva Walker Bare; sons, Randy Bare (Brenda), Curtis Bare, and Brian Meade; grandchildren, Chris, Kellie and Daniel Bare; great-grandchildren, Simon, Abbie, and Adyen; brothers, Nathan and Den Bare; and sisters, Vickie Bare, Clair Shepherd, and Vivi Jones.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 2:30 p.m., at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Allen Fox officiating. The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
