Evelyn Bowman, 92, of Conover, left this world for her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
She was born on September 18, 1925, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Smith and Pansy Pennell Bowman. Evelyn was retired from Taylorsville Upholstery. After retirement, she worked for Captain’s Galley on Sandy Ridge Rd, where she was a beloved employee for the last 10 years and had many wonderful friends and coworkers.
She had a smile that would just light up the room. Evelyn loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening and canning.
Evelyn was a member at Friendship Lutheran Church, but in recent years attended Oxford Baptist, in Conover, with her family. She loved her Lord and Savior, and cherished spending time reading and studying her Bible. Evelyn was a precious jewel and will greatly be missed.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Bowman; a daughter, Patricia Ann Cook; brothers, J.D., Burrell, Ralph and Ray Bowman; and sisters, Louise Crouch, and Kay and Carol Bowman.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Steve (Norma) Bowman of Claremont; grandchildren, Rhonda (Tracey) Lunsford of Granite Falls, Ashley (Dawn) Bowman of Hildebran, Tyler Bowman of Claremont, and Natalie (Nathan) Jones of Conover; great-grandchildren, Taylor Lunsford, Hunter Lunsford, Paige Bowman, Cade Bowman, Cayce Bowman, and Mason Jones; brother, Thurston (Helen) Bowman of Thomasville; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Bowman of Taylorsville, Elaine Bowman of Jacksonville, Florida, Mary Ann Bowman of Clayton, Carol Bowman of Claremont, Joyce Deal and Elaine Bowman of Taylorsville, and Brenda Bowman of Bethlehem; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2017, from 1:15 p.m. – 2:45 p.m., at Oxford Baptist Church, in Conover, and the funeral service will follow, at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Joel Frye and Rev. Mitch Friar officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Tyler Bowman, Tracy Lunsford, Hunter Lunsford, Ashley Bowman, Nathan Jones, and Chris Bowman.
