Mildred J. Bumgarner

Mildred J. Bumgarner, 75, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully at Sherrills Ford Hospice House on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

Mrs. Bumgarner was born September 1, 1942, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Leonard Russell Johnson and Mary Louise McCloud Johnson.

She had volunteered at the Battered Women’s Shelter and also had worked in child care. She was of the Baptist faith and did volunteer work for the Food Bank at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church. Mildred loved her family very much. She was always there when she was needed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 45 years, James “Jim” W. Bumgarner of the home; daughter, Angela Spears and husband Carl of Catawba County; three sons, Randy Houston and wife Robin, and Terry Houston and friend Denise, all of Catawba County, and Roger Houston and wife Lori of Alexander County; a sister, Darlene Punch and wife Andrea of Catawba County; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; and also her dog and best friend, “Buddy”.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Brad Painter will officiate.

    I remember Mildred well. She was a fine lady with a big heart.She will be sadly missed.
