Gloria Jean Denny Parson

Gloria Jean Denny Parson, 76, of Happy Plains Road, Taylorsville, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at Brian Center in Statesville.

Mrs. Parson was born October 20, 1941, in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late James Denny and Virginia Williams Denny.

She had worked in the furniture industry and was a homemaker. She was a member of Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to watch all sports and liked to cook for her family.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rev. Novella Denny and Barbara Denny; and four brothers, James P. Denny, Billy S. Denny, J.D. Denny, and Roy Kenneth Denny.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years, Jay Lewis Parson of the home; a son, Michael Anthony Parson (Vicky) of Orrum; three daughters, Tammy Parson Kennedy (Charles) of Newton, Tina Parson Parks (Mark) of Statesville, and Cathy Parson Lackey (Trammell) of Taylorsville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Glenda Denny Adams (James) of Roaring River.

The Home-Going Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Liberty Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Ardeal Roseboro will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will include her nephews and flower-bearers will include her nieces and friends.
