Lou Ann Pennell

Lou Ann Pennell, 78, of NC Hwy 16 South, Taylorsville, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018.

Mrs. Pennell was born October 24, 1939, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Carl Edward Hefner and Cora Lou Jolly Hefner.

She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed the early service and adored her Sunday school class. She loved to cook and work outdoors and spend time with her grandchildren.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh “Gene” Pennell; and a son, Rocky Eugene Pennell.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Sonya Elder of the home, and Sandra Eckard (J.D.) of Taylorsville; son-in-law, Leslie Elder of Taylorsville; two grandchildren, Shauna Eckard Isenhour (Jeffrey) of Hickory, and Devin Elder of Taylorsville; and a great-grandchild, Dalton Isenhour of Hickory.

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Friendship Lutheran Church. Pastors Greg and Carol Yeager will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.
