Carolyn Jean Cook Stikeleather, 76, of Wilmington, passed away May 25, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington.
Carolyn was born September 17, 1941, in Burke County, to the late Sylvester Lynn and Lillian Lucille Sloop Cook.
Before her disability, she was employed at Alexvale Furniture in the swatch department for 15 years. She attended Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She had a lovely singing voice and enjoyed singing gospel music with her family, “The Cook Family”, at special gatherings and at different churches.
Carolyn is survived by four daughters, Sherry Justice and husband James of Leland, Donna Lewis and husband Eric, and Sandra Johnson, both of Taylorsville, and Chrystal Stikeleather of West Virginia; two brothers, Robert Cook of Taylorsville, and Thomas Cook and wife Patricia of Hiddenite; a sister, Joyce C. Sweet and husband Johnny of Hiddenite; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A service of remembrance will be conducted on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 3:00 p.m., at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, 116 Patterson Road, Hiddenite. Rev. Steve Parks and Rev. Mitch King will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., prior to the service, in the sanctuary of the church.
