Hilda Leigh McCollum Robinson

Hilda Leigh McCollum Robinson, 83, of Chester, Virginia, and formerly of Statesville, passed away May 26, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House, in Statesville, after a brief illness.

She was born December 19, 1934, in Yadkin County, to the late William Paul McCollum and Mamie Eleanor Wooten McCollum.

She began her career in the family-owned business, Carolina Inn Restaurant in Statesville. She also worked in the family ran Popes Snack Bar. She ended her working career in ladies fashion working at Fashion Nook, Bonnies Clothing and Mary Lynn’s. She was also a member of Front Street Baptist Church in Statesville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Tuttle Robinson.

Hilda is survived by her son, Michael Todd Robinson and wife Evelyn of Chester, Virginia; a daughter, Sharon R. Keller and husband John of Hiddenite; three brothers, J. W. McCollum of Statesville, R. Alton McCollum and wife Marie of Bamberg, South Carolina, and Mickey G. McCollum and wife Sherry of Statesville; four sisters, Dorothy M. Taylor, Shelby M. Parker, Lavonne M. McCrary and husband John, and DiAnne M. Jenkins and husband Gibson, all of Statesville; two grandchildren, Joshua Ryan Robinson and Kimberly Nicole Robinson, both of Chester, Virginia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Front Street Baptist Church in Statesville. Pastor Tim Stutts will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
