Mabel Kathrine Kerley Martin

Mabel Kathrine Kerley Martin, 86, of Taylorsville, took her final flight home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 28, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on November 28, 1931, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Clarence Andrew and Lacy Mae Anderson Kerley.

Mabel was privileged to be able to stay at home and take care of her family. She had a special love for them and she was an amazing cook. Mabel was also considered the neighbor “Mom” of her community. She was a member of Liledoun Baptist Church and was known for her love of hats. Mabel was also an avid reader and was also a league bowler.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Bruce Junior Martin; brother, James Kerley; and sisters, Francis Douglas, Margret Harrington, and Shirley Campbell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Bradley Martin and Jonathan Martin and wife Danielle, both of Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Josie, Joshua, Stephen, Benjamin, and Samuel; and a great-grandchild, Jordan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., at Liledoun Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. James Lockee and Rev. Jonathan Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Iredell or to the Rainbow House – Hospice of Iredell at 2347 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.

    Mabel was a sweet woman. she was always fun and always treated me with kindness.she will be greatly missed and I appreciate everything she done for me throughout my life. I’m very proud to call her a member of my family.she was a very classy lady.
