Effie Lee Mayberry Queen

Effie Lee Mayberry Queen, 95, of Stony Point, passed away June 6, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville after a brief illness.

She was born June 10, 1922, in Alexander County, daughter of the late Joel and Cora Mayberry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Queen, and seven siblings.

Effie’s passions were family, church, and serving others. She was a master of all crafts, especially quilting, and was a charter member of the Brushy Mountain Quilters Guild.

Effie is survived by a son, Barry Queen of Patterson; three daughters, Brenda Hefner of Taylorsville, Janice Lentz of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Judy Honeycutt and husband Mike of Lake Norman; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Stony Point United Methodist Church, 311 Ruritan Park Road, Stony Point. Rev. Donnie Durham will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the committal service in the Church’s multipurpose building.
