Shirley Diann Icenhour Stocks, 68, of Hiddenite, left this world on Thursday, June 21, 2018, from Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, for her heavenly home.
She was born on May 13, 1950, in Alexander County, and was a tremendous cook and enjoyed working in the flower garden. During her career, Diann worked at Carolina Glove as a seamstress and also for the Alexander County Dept. of Social Services as an In-Home Aide.
She was a member of Taylorsville Church of God, where she taught children’s Sunday School for 50 years. Diann was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She had a special love towards everyone, especially her granddaughters.
Diann is survived by her parents, Junior and Clara Jean Sipes and Everett and Jenette Icenhour of Taylorsville; her husband of 49 years, David Ray Stocks of the home; daughter, Laura and Brady Hensley of Hiddenite; son, Mark Stocks of Martinsville, Virginia; granddaughters, Sheena and Isiah Roark and Sophia Hensley of Hiddenite; brothers, Lynn and Mindy Icenhour of Hickory, Clifford and Kathy Icenhour of Taylorsville, and David and Debbie Icenhour of Taylorsville; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Taylorsville Church of God. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at Taylorsville Church of God with Rev. Mark Albertino officiating. Burial will follow at Hiddenite Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
