Dear Phyllis, We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband Joe. Our prayers and love are with you and your sweet family. I cannot imagine life without my Charlie. I remember Joe was friends growing up with some of my brothers when I was a little kid. I remember him being a very nice person, a determined person who didn’t ever let his handicap rule his life. He was a great example to us all. I am sure not only you, but everyone will miss him dearly.
It has been years since you and I were in school together. Even though we moved away 45 years ago we still miss seeing our classmates and our friends in Taylorsville. I think of you often and really miss our carefree school days. So many of our classmates have graduated to heaven. To name just a few: Betty Sue Kerley, Faye Jolly, Walter Auton and I’m not sure who else. Please call me at (919) 202 7764 so we can catch up on our lives. E-mail me at lklyttle@nc.rr.com. You are in our prayers Phyllis. Friends Forever, Linda Kerley Lyttle

My sincere condolences go out to the family of this very unselfish man for his community service to the good people of the Sugarloaf Community and Alexander County as a volunteer firefighter. I did not personally know Joe, but am sure he will be sorely missed by all who did have the privilege of knowing such a fine man. I am very saddened to learn of your and Alexander County’s loss.
