Mary L. Johnson White passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Brian Center, Tate Boulevard, Hickory.
Mary was born on March 15, 1931.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. White; two sons, Ronnie White and Roger White; and her mother and step- father, Bertha J. and Paul Herman.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam W. Aycock; a lifelong dear friend, Russell Johnson; and a very sweet daughter-in-law, Shirley Wyatt.
Mary was a caring wife and mother. As her vocational choice, she selected and studied furniture design and sewing at Catawba Valley Community College with instructor Haywood Gurley. With Mary’s keen eye for detail, color and texture, she opened her own interiors shoppe in her home called Mary’s Sewing Shoppe.
Mary’s hobbies included cheering on her beloved Atlanta Braves, composing beautiful and unique floral arrangements, making the lightest and softest biscuits imaginable from scratch, gardening, canning, and freezing her own homegrown vegetables and fruits.
She was a generous and giving woman, spearheading fundraisers for Leukemia, Veteran’s groups and the less fortunate. With Mary’s wonderful sense of organization, she got things done.
Heartfelt thanks go out to the caring staff of the Brian Center and also to the kind staff of Hospice of Lincoln County.
In honor of Mary’s wishes, a private graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
