James “Shorty” Stephen Warren

James “Shorty” Stephen Warren, 75, of Taylorsville, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

He was born on December 31, 1942, the son of the late Grady and Eloise Icenhour Warren. Shorty was retired from Rock-Tenn, now West Rock. He honorably served our country in the US Army and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Shorty was a good provider and had a special love for his family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Grady F. “Rusty” Warren and Gene Warren, and sister, Cathy Mecimore.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Ann Chapman Warren of the home; three daughters, Nicole Pierce (Gary) and Leslie Walker (Kevin) of Lenoir, and Tricia Warren of Taylorsville; son, Adam Warren (Becky); step-mother, Ada Warren (Rex Haas); seven grandchildren, Stephen Brown, Morgan Sullivan (Chris), Ashton Pierce, Devin Rainey, Brennan Warren, Laura Vance, and Elizabeth Warren; four great-grandchildren, Macie Griffin, Aayliah Duncan, Ryley Brown, and Aiden Sullivan; sister, Shelia Warren Miller (David) of West Jefferson; along with a number of nieces and nephews.

To celebrate Shorty’s life, the family will receive friends on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service. Military rites will be provided by the DAV Ch. 84 of Taylorsville and Ch. 6 of Hudson and also by the National Guard. A private burial of his cremains will be held at a later time at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery.

    I found out Stephen had passed away when a friend called me. I am so sorry to hear this. May God provide peace and serenity for all the family members and bless each one, especially my friend, Ann.
