Summa West

Summa West, 86, of Eagle Drive, Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Valley Nursing Center.

Mrs. West was born June 17, 1932, in Iredell County, the daughter of the late Guy Newton and Lillie Thompson Sherrill.

She was a homemaker and also co-owner and operated with her husband White’s Discount Store in Taylorsville. She was a member of Taylorsville Presbyterian Church, where she was very involved with the women of the church activities.

She was an avid golfer and member of Brushy Mountain Ladies Golf Association. She loved to cook, do needle work, and enjoyed playing bridge.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Sherrill Thompson; and five brothers, Kemp, Kermit, Keith, Kara and Kress Sherrill.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ralph C. West of the home; Cheryl West Feimster of Taylorsville; granddaughter, Morgan Feimster of Taylorsville; and grandson, Garrett Feimster of Concord.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Taylorsville Presbyterian Church. Rev. Paul Sink and Rev. Joel Simpson will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Taylorsville Presbyterian Fellowship Building. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens, 2304 Shelton Avenue, Statesville.
