Larry J. Parson

Larry J. Parson

Larry J. Parson, 70, of Dula Loop, Taylorsville, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Gordon Hospice House.

Mr. Parson was born June 22, 1948, in Alexander County, the son of the late Paul Parson and Eula Mae Dula Parson.

He was a US Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church, where he was a former member of the choir. He had worked as a foreman for Broyhill Furniture in Newton.

Larry was a humble, kind-hearted, loving man, who provided for his family and loved the Lord. He had a green thumb in which he enjoyed planting trees and scrubs and seeing them grow.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Gloria Jean Parson.

Those family members left to cherish his memory include two sons, Elton James Parson and wife Dernease of Taylorsville, and Marcus Brent Parson and wife Annie Marea of Holly Hill, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Carrie Mae Parson Johnson and husband Wayman of Morganton; two brothers, Jay Lewis Parson, and Lindsay Parson and wife Rita, all of Taylorsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The home-going service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2018 at Liberty Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Ardeal Roseboro will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors accorded by DAV Chapter 84 and Chapter 6. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

I was Larry’s classmate through 11th grade. I was in Maryland when I heard of Larry’s passing and regret that I could not attend his service. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
