Maggie Elizabeth Baker

Maggie Elizabeth Baker, 79, of Buff Lane, Taylorsville, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Carolina Caring in Newton.

Mrs. Baker was born September 9, 1939, in Greenville, the daughter of the late William Arthur Pennell and Lola Mae Earp Pennell.

Maggie was a cook at the Burger Basket for 22+ years and was a member of the Hiddenite Church of God. She loved to sing gospel music and enjoyed telling other people about Jesus. Her main focus in life was her church and home.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zebbie “Pete” Tate Baker; sisters, Lela, Melsey, Mavis, and Tressie; brothers, Richard, Cubby, Atwell, Claude “Red,” and an infant brother.

Those family members left to cherish and honor her memory include two sons, Charles “Chuck” Russell Baker of Taylorsville, and James “JB” Franklin Baker and wife Denise of Newton; a sister, Betty Southard and husband Raymon of Harmony; a brother, David “Jim” Pennell of Taylorsville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Teague Munday Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Crowder will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home.
