Anne Still Shook, 83, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at her residence.
Anne was born April 26, 1935, in Cooleemee, the daughter of the late Walter Still and Lila Jane Barney. She lived in Alexander County (Stony Point and Taylorsville) all her early years and attended school in Taylorsville.
She was a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia, where she enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School Class. She loved collecting art.
She was mostly a homemaker, but worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Drywall Associates.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by two of her sons, David Richard Shook (1992) and Joel Scott Shook (2012); a sister, Thelma Irene Marshall; and three brothers, Johnie William Hepler, Henry Hubert Hepler, and Bobby (Tinker) Larry Deal.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, David Lee Shook of the home; son, Robert Lee Shook of Hampton, Virginia; grandson, Joel Scott Shook II of Kirkland, Washington; granddaughters, Brandy Lee Thomas and Christina Anne Thomas of Hampton, Virginia; great-grandsons, Dylan Wheeler and Joshua Seligson of Hampton, Virginia; and great-granddaughters, Anna Seligson and Jasmine Lohnes of Hampton, Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. A celebration of Anne‘s life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
