Rachel Flostina Wagner, 92, of Alexander County, died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Lenoir Health Care Center.
She was born on April 27, 1926 to the late Theodore Wagner and Lelia Teague Wagner. Rachel received a B.S. degree in education from Lenoir Rhyne College and a Master’s degree from Appalachian State University.
She retired after teaching for 41 years in the Landis School in Rowan County. Rachel loved teaching and working with children. She also enjoyed her church and her garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank T. Wagner, and sister, M. Emilyn Wagner.
Survivors include her brothers, Carl Wagner, and Oren Wagner and wife Betty; three nephews; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m., at the church. Pastor Dr. Wayne Caviness will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
