Dorothy Elaine Dyson Watson

Dorothy Elaine Dyson Watson, 65, of Taylorsville, left this earthly world for her heavenly home on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

She was born on March 3, 1953, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Graydon Henry and Peggy Jane Teague Dyson. During her career, Dorothy worked at Sears in Taylorsville and Mo Caro Dye & Finishing. She attended East Taylorsville Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, and was known for her infectious smile.

Dorothy loved working in her flower garden and taking trips to the mountains. She especially had a great love for her children and her grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Hayden and Alma Teague, and paternal grandparents, O.C. and Julia Dyson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 47 years, Danny Lee Watson of the home; son, Daniel Watson and wife Kim; daughter, Deidra Simms and husband Matthew; grandchildren, Kayla, Kody and Katen Simms, and Peyton Watson; brother, Tommy Dyson and wife Denise; and sister, Kathy Chapman and husband Danny, all of Taylorsville; along with 11 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service. A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Inurnment will be with the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
