Peggy Hamby Hefner

Peggy Hamby Hefner, 77, of Northmont Road, Taylorsville, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 at Avanta Nursing Home in Wilkesboro.

Peggy was born December 20, 1941, in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late James Berchette Hamby and Ruby Triplett Hamby.

She was the owner and operator of Starlite Café for over 40 years and was a lifelong member of Friendship Lutheran Church. She enjoyed shopping and traveling. She dearly loved her wonderful pet dog, Scarlett.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Skin” Hefner; a son, Tyron Hefner; and two brothers, Michael Hamby and Dick Hamby.

Those left to cherish her memory include a grandson, Kaleb White; two sisters, Maxine Hamby Laws of Moravian Falls, and Wanda Hamby Holler and husband Tracy of Statesville; a brother, Bobby Hamby of Moravian Falls; a niece, Julee Miller and husband Ryan of Claremont; and a great-niece, Adriana Miller.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Friendship Lutheran Church. Pastor Greg Yeager will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service, in the fellowship hall.
