Eugene Ivory Redmond, 88, of Stony Point, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Valley Medical Center in Taylorsville after a period of declining health.
Born to the late William and Lavinia Redmond, he served in the US Army and was of the Baptist faith. Eugene enjoyed fishing, attending gospel concerts, and loved the activities at Valley Nursing Center.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Redmond was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Helton Redmond; brother, Dean Redmond of Maryland; sister, Brenda Redmond of Statesville; niece, Terry Bast of Florida; step-son, Allen Pennell; step-daughter, Brenda Ford; and step-grandson, Daniel Sterling.
Survivors include brother, James Redmond and wife Kay of Statesville; sister, Joyce Lambert and husband Jeff of Statesville; daughter, Barbara Redmond Gaskin and husband Joey of Stony Point; and step-daughters, Davanna “Kay” Moore and husband Tim of Stony Point, Marla Crane of Granite Falls, and Mary Reavis of Stony Point. Loved ones include two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 32 step-great-grandchildren, and six step-great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday May 16, 2019 at Alexander Funeral Service from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Sharpe officiating. Burial will be at Blueridge Memorial Park, 2017 Wilkesboro Blvd. NE., Lenoir, NC 28645.
